InnovHeart (Newton, MA, USA & Milan, Italy) is an Italian company with global presence resulting from an office in the U.S. (Boston, MA) and a partnership in Greater China (GrandPharma). InnovHeart is developing a proprietary, unique TMVR system (Saturn) which addresses many of the challenges (LVOT obstruction, annular size and shape) identified by other companies in early feasibility studies focused on addressing mitral regurgitation (MR). Saturn technology is comprised of a sub-annular ring fully connected (interlocked) with a central valve. Two halves of the ring are delivered independently before being seated onto anterior and posterior valve connecting blocks. The system components (rings and valve) are all delivered over continuous rails providing for ease of use. Benefits are delivery of the valve prosthesis in the anatomically correct position establishing stable, durable anchoring and reverse remodeling of the mitral annulus improving heart function. The short height of the valve (13mm below the annular plane) reduces the potential for LVOT obstruction. InnovHeart has successfully implanted five trans-apical patients with two-year follow up on three patients and one year follow up on the last two. The company will begin a global trans-septal early feasibility study in late Q1 2024. InnovHeart is backed by leading investor Genextra S.p.A, Italian holding company specialized in early-stage investments in the life sciences sector, as well as Panakes Partners, Indaco Venture Capital, CDP Venture Capital and East Ocean (GrandPharma).
